Electrification is the key talking point in the car world, with many manufacturers launching a flurry of hybrids and EVs.
Skoda is no different, with the firm setting up its bespoke iV sub-brand a few years to account for its growing range of electrified models. So, whether it’s a hatchback, estate or SUV that you’re looking for, let’s take a look at the Skoda hybrid and EVs available today.
Octavia iV
The Octavia has long been a very popular choice with the fleet market, owing to this model’s roomy interior, comfortable ride and long-distance credentials. With company car tax rates being increasingly important to this market, it was a no-brainer for Skoda to introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the Octavia, as the lower CO2 emissions of these vehicles incur cheaper tax for business users.
Pairing a 1.4-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, the Octavia iV is available with an output of 201bhp in its standard guise, but Skoda also offers a sportier vRS model that takes the power up to 242bhp. Available as both a hatchback and a estate, Skoda claims up to 41 miles of electric miles from a charge.
Superb iV
Though the Octavia is already a very practical choice, if you fancy something with more space still, you should look at the Superb iV. Using a broadly similar powertrain to the Octavia, the combined petrol and electric output is 215bhp, Skoda claims up to 38 miles from a charge.
You can also choose the Superb plug-in hybrid as both a large hatchback and an estate, with each offering an impressive amount of room for passengers and luggage. This Skoda also has a particularly well-finished interior, while excels when it comes to comfort and refinement.
Enyaq iV
The Enyaq arrived as Skoda’s first bespoke electric model, and it’s already proven popular. It’s easy to see why as this EV offers a particularly spacious interior that makes it a fantastic family car. It’s also stylish and packed full of equipment, with standard features including 19-inch alloy wheels, a huge 13-inch touchscreen and reversing camera.
The regular Enyaq is available with a choice of 58kWh and 77kWh battery capacities, which offer claimed ranges of up to 246 miles and 332 miles respectively. All-wheel-drive versions are also available, while a flagship VRS heads up the line-up.
Enyaq Coupe iV
If you want something a little more stylish from an electric SUV, Skoda’s new Enyaq Coupe will likely fit the bill perfectly. Adopting a sloping roofline, it’s a very cool-looking thing that has plenty of presence.
At the same time, there’s only a small sacrifice when it comes to practicality as this Coupe remains spacious with a generously-sized interior. Unlike the standard Enyaq, this model is only available with the larger 77kWh battery, with Skoda claiming a range of up to 345 miles. Its starting price also significantly undercuts rivals like the Volkswagen ID.5 and Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback.
