The BMW iX3 has been named 2026 What Car? Car of the Year, marking a significant milestone for BMW’s next-generation electric vehicles and its new Neue Klasse platform.
The iX3 launches with a claimed WLTP range of up to 500 miles, setting a new benchmark for electric vehicles on sale in the UK. Combined with 800V architecture and 400kW DC charging, drivers can recover more than 200 miles of range in just 10 minutes, addressing one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption.
Power comes from a 108.7kWh battery and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing up to 469bhp. Despite the performance credentials, efficiency and real-world usability remain central to the iX3’s design.
Inside, BMW has focused on sustainability and simplicity, using eco-conscious materials and a streamlined digital interface. Practicality remains strong, with 520 litres of boot space and a 58-litre front storage compartment.
Available to order now from £58,755, the iX3 represents BMW’s most advanced electric vehicle to date and signals the direction of travel for future Neue Klasse models, including the upcoming electric BMW i3 saloon.
